Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
.........anyone know if it's just bad luck in the draw or do we get a choice? I thought being top seeds meant we play the 2nd leg at home if we want to.

2nd leg away is usually a disadvantage so this is why I ask.

Sorry if done already or if I've missed something here.

Just conceded 5 goals at home in their second league game. (And two more in the first) Lets hope we have caught them in a generous spell.

Sell out for Thursday home game?

Not sure if it will be as I got through to a human in the box office this morning without any delay...or perhaps the club have employed a further 200 staff to handle calls.

25k tops?

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
The general concensous is playing the 2nd leg at home gives an advantage as you know exactly what you have to do and you have home advantage along with the crowd behind you in what is essentially a knock out tie.
Ist legs can be cagey and a bit flat too in terms of performance and atmosphere as we've seen.

Obviously we should be winning these ties easily home or away first but it doesn't always and hasn't worked out out that way so far.

These Rumanians are no mugs.
Only 27 goals conceded over 36 games last season.Plus 27 goal difference. They will be as hard as nails.
I can't see us winning the home game comfortably without Sakho.
Probably have to put out a very strong side in the second leg.

Surely home first against Astra an advantage: play the strongest team available in order to win comfortably (!!?). Hopefully a 'B' side can then defend the lead. Really need to put this to bed next Thursday with Arsenal 3 days after the return leg.

On the o/s it says that we are home for the 2nd game!

Thought being drawn away for the second leg would be more of an advantage?

Better to take a possible home win away?
If they get an away goal, you know youve got to score at least twice?
And more time to score that away goal if it goes to extra time?

Just a thought on it

Not lighting it up so far

After finishing 3rd last year have, just lost 1-5 in their league after a 2-2 draw to begin the season.

Malta is very nice, it was very, very hot but the beer was cold and cheap.

The ground was a nightmare to get to, it's in the middle of fuck all and was just one long traffic jam that took well over an hour to get to going and 15 minutes coming back.

There wasn't any need to throw any white furniture but it did turn a bit nasty 2nd half with the Maltese cunts in the boxes above us and the weapon of choice seem to be plastic bottles of pop.

Bit of a shame the games are so compressed as a few more nights in Malta would have been great.

It didn't in the case of Malta as the flights were more expensive

Off topic

The UEFA site has story on Southampton as they are entering the EL, complete with Bale in his original "earful" glory.

The surgeons earned their money.

Lets be honest we should have smashed both these no hopers at home and didn't

At least having the 2nd round away helps the travelling fans who have more time to book their trips.

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
OK so we have drawn at home twice for the first leg?

Nothing out of the ordinary there then

Didn't we have a terrible run of luck with away draws in the cups recently?

Shit happens in that regard

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
Old man cough is wrong, the Malta tie was played as it was drawn.

It would have been switched if Valetta had have beaten a Welsh pubside as they finished 2nd but they didn't.

First one - yes

Second - orginally at home.

You can see the results on the UEFA site still say we were drawn away in the first round. You can all watch the videos if really wanted too.

Re: Why do we keep getting drawn away 2nd leg in the Euro qualifiers?
We were drawn away to Lusitanos first but that game was switched because the other Andorran side were also drawn at home and as they finished higher our game was switched.

We were then drawn away twice.....

It's luck, combined with set rules

Sorry there is only one number in each ball but it sometimes represent a bunch of teams if that is confusing.
